The Hinesville First United Methodist Church Endowment Fund was established by a resolution adopted at Charge Conference on July 15, 1990 to hold bequests or gifts made to the church that are not otherwise designated. The principal can not be spent, but interest may be used for nonrecurring needs that are not regularly budgeted.
The Endowment Fund currently consists of five “principal only” certificates of deposit that originate from gifts or bequests, one “earnings only” certificate, and a savings account that collects interest from all certificates monthly. The five “principal only” certificates are invested with maturity dates ranging from one to five years, with one maturing each year. The “earnings only” certificate matures annually so that interest from all certificates can be reinvested at a higher rate, and so that these funds are more available to meet non-budgeted church needs.
The Endowment Fund Trustees met January 21, 2007 and voted to reinvest the 2007 “principal only” certificate for five years, to move the interest from the savings account to the one year “earnings only” certificate, and to reinvest the “earnings only” certificate for one year.
Questions regarding the Endowment Fund may be directed to any of the Trustees or to the church office. Trustees for 2007 are Mollie Ashmore, Bessie Bailey, Speir Flanders, Jason Floyd, John Long and Dick Webb.
