Easter Eggstravaganza
The annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be held Palm Sunday, April 1st at 3:30 at Tea Grove Plantation (Norman Farm) . Everyone is invited and we always have great fun. Please bring plastic Easter eggs and non chocolate candy and place it in the box outside the church office for the Easter Egg Hunt. Each family is asked to bring enough hotdogs or hamburgers (and buns) to feed your family and a side dish or dessert. The Family Life Committee will supply condiments, tableware and drinks. The youth will hide the eggs and help organize games. If you would like to help, please see Donna or Martha.
Prayer Group
Anyone interested in meeting with a prayer group to pray for our church, please meet on Sunday mornings at 8:30 in the Social Hall.
Military and Deployment Support
If you or your spouse are deployed or going to be deployed, please call the church office and give us your name, (spouses’ name), address, email address or phone number.
Pay a Visit to the Sick & Shut-In
Mrs. Betty Gentry Hinely is at home recovering from a stroke and is receiving dialysis several days a week. She would enjoy visitors to come on Mondays. Please call her home at 877-7461 to set up a time.
We are in the process of organizing visiting/calling teams to visit and/or call our shut-ins and nursing home residents at least weekly. The nucleus group will come from the Adult Sunday School classes and the Circles. We would welcome the participation of anyone within the Congregation. We hope to have four teams, each functioning one week each month. If you would like to participate in this very special ministry, please call Judy Shippey at 876-2740.
This year we are observing Holy Week (April 2-6) in a different way; instead of having luncheons and speakers each day, we are putting all our efforts into a major Good Friday (April 6) observance. At 12:00 we will have a covered dish luncheon, followed by a presentation of THE SEVEN LAST WORDS FROM THE CROSS. Please plan now to come and join us for this special meal and Service! We plan to make this a community-wide event.
ALSO, there will be a BAKE SALE AT THE GOOD FRIDAY LUNCHEON, WITH PROCEEDS GOING TOWARD REPAIRS TO THE CHURCH BUILDING.
On Thursday evening, April 5, at 7:00 P.M. we will have our Maundy Thursday Service. This commemorates Jesus' Last Supper with His Disciples. Holy Communion will be served.
We will also have our traditional Good Friday Service of Darkness (Tennebrae) at 7:00 P.M. At the end of this Service, the chancel area will be stripped of all appointments and the crosses draped in black. This, of course, is in preparation for a glorious resurrection experience on Easter Sunday. Plan now to attend all three of these meaningful Services during this time of preparation. If you have any questions, or need more information, please call Judy Shippey at 876-2740.
