“Beginning in Christ Together” is a 6 week opportunity to live, love and learn with others as we purpose to live together in community. Ray & Christine Barrett will be hosting our time together in their home starting on Sunday, April 22 at 4:00 p.m.
Also, don't forget the SUPER BAKE SALE which will be held in connection with the Good Friday observance. This is a great opportunity to buy a cake for Easter! The proceeds from the sale will be used for church building repairs.
At 7:00 P.M. the traditional Good Friday Service of Darkness (Tennebrae) will be held in the Sanctuary. At the conclusion of this Service, the Chancel area will be stripped of all appointments and the crosses draped in black. This will symbolize a period of sorrow and mourning until the joyful Resurrection morning of Easter. Remember, we can't have Easter without having Good Friday first. Plan now to come and participate in these two meaningful observances of this high and holy time of our church year.
The annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be held Palm Sunday, April 1st at 3:30 at Tea Grove Plantation (Norman Farm) . Everyone is invited and we always have great fun. Please bring plastic Easter eggs and non chocolate candy and place it in the box outside the church office for the Easter Egg Hunt. Each family is asked to bring enough hotdogs or hamburgers (and buns) to feed your family and a side dish or dessert. The Family Life Committee will supply condiments, tableware and drinks. The youth will hide the eggs and help organize games. If you would like to help, please see Donna or Martha.
New Bible Study
A new Bible study began on Tuesday, March 20, at 7:00 p.m. at the home of W. L. & Lynda Hall. We will meet every other Tuesday after that and will be exploring the Jewish Roots of our Christian Faith as we study scripture and history. Come and join us as we begin this exciting venture together. If you have questions or need more information, please call Lynda Hall at 876-2792.
Combined Services
On Palm Sunday, April 1 and Easter Sunday, April 8 we will be having combined services. Sunday School will begin at 9:00 and church will start at 11:00. Please make a note of this for yourself and be sure to tell your friends.
LADIES RETREAT
Ladies! You are invited to participate in a very special ladies retreat in our church social hall on March 31. Robbyn Evans from Sylvania and Tonya Zettrower from Statesboro will be here to lead us in a special time of worship and to share with us about Women of the Word (WOW), an international ministry and especially about the WOW women’s conference coming to Savannah in September 2007. This is a big event for our church as the Christian Women’s Ministry of HFUMC is serving as an area sponsor to support and promote the September 14-16 WOW weekend conference as well as a special “Catch the Vision” rally on May 5th also to be held in Savannah. Women from other churches in our area are being invited to participate in this Ladies Retreat. Please come and bring a friend (s)!
Robbyn and Tonya are young women who love the Lord and love to share His Word with women of all ages and to share what God is doing through the WOW ministry. This is a wonderful opportunity for the ladies of our church and other area churches to come together to worship and fellowship with each other.
We will begin at 9:00 with a light breakfast and fellowship and then move into a time of worship. Please come and join us for this special event in the life of our church. If you have questions or need more information, please call Judy Shippey at 876-2740 or Lynda Hall at 876-2792.

DVD Equipment Needed
We have an urgent need to be able to purchase equipment which will enable us to make
sound and picture recordings of our Morning Services to distribute to our shut-ins,
nursing home residents and others who are unable to attend the Services. These DVDs
will be distributed weekly by our Visitation Teams. If you would like to help underwrite
the cost of this equipment please mark your check “DVD Equipment” and either drop
it in the offering plate or the Church Office. Thank you in advance for helping
our Church to reach out to those who are unable to attend and to let them know that
their Church cares about them!
Preference will be given to those who have not previously been involved in a small
group or are new to our community of faith. For more information, please see Pastor
Marci or call Christine Barrett at 312-2215.
On Good Friday, April 6, at 12:00 noon, our Church will host a community-wide Good
Friday Service. This will be the first time we will have THE SEVEN LAST WORDS FROM
THE CROSS. The Words will be presented by area ministers. This part of the Service
will last approximately thirty minutes, after which there will be a soup and sandwich
lunch provided by the CWM ladies.
In Sympathy
Christian love and sympathy to Joe Matthews in the loss of his mother, Sylvia Matthews.
Funeral services will be held in West Virginia.
Thanks!
The Junior High Sunday School Class would like to thank everyone who helped them
in their effort to collect peanut butter and canned goods for the Manna House at
Thanksgiving. Thanks to all who participated and stood by our youth.
