If there is a senior whose name is not included on that list, please contact the church office right away. It would not be our desire to overlook this important moment for even one of the young men and women of our church family.
The intent at this time of year is to extend honor to students of all ages who are completing an educational goal. If there is a person graduating from college, or one who has completed a certification course in a technical institute, that should be recognized, as well. So please let us know if you, or someone among your family, friends, or co-workers, has earned a degree or completed an academic program this year.
All of our graduates will be honored at both morning worship services on Sunday, May 14. The focus of our services that day will be to give thanks to God for what our members and friends have accomplished as they pursue the purpose of God for their lives.
The proper place for the church in our lives is to be a place that believes in us. As a community of faith, it is our call to see the very best in the persons entrusted to our care.
There was a congregation where I once served that had an outreach to children in their community. Many of these children came from families with limited means. There were members of that congregation who encouraged academic excellence in the lives of these boys and girls by providing school supplies for them. There was one young boy who was very bright but whose family had few resources to support his academic opportunities. A family in that church started a college fund for that boy. They believed in the potential of what the Lord could do in his life and invested in it.
At First United Methodist Church, there are services of worship at 8:30 and 11:00 each Sunday. Those services are intended to provide an opportunity for us to come together to hear God’s word and to find God’s purpose for our lives. Come join us! See you in church!
Blessings!
