Pastor’s Corner
Good things continue to happen at Hinesville First United Methodist Church. The Overman Men’s Bible Class continues to amaze. The men have put in place all the ingredients leading to the installation of a sprinkler system that will allow us to develop a strong and viable lawn.
The Jack Waller Class has the driving force behind painting the social hall and beautifying the women’s restroom. A great ministry has been done by all.
The annual golf tourney which comes as a prelude to the Fall Festival was a roaring success and loads of fun. The support for the affair was awe inspiring.
The first of many congregation wide listening groups was held during the first week in October. More meetings are scheduled over the next few weeks. Please attend a session in your area or wherever you so chose. We are compiling your preferences for ministry. We will share the findings and prioritize our ministries. We need everyone to set-up and step-out.
I know that you will be attending the Fall Festival. It will be a spectacular event.
Finally, on October 29, 2006, our Annual Charge Conference is scheduled. Please try to attend, and send in your year ending gifts of love so the church can meet the conference askings for our apportionment ministries.
Additionally, we need your gifts of love for the ministry to our youth. We have advertised for a part-time youth worker, and we want to have sufficient resources to meet the needs of the youth ministry. Be safe and remember that you are special in God’s sight.
Yours in Christ,
Douglas

AS A CHRISTIAN, DO YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND YOUR JEWISH ROOTS? If your answer to this question is, no, I didn’t know I have Jewish roots as a Christian or that it even really matters, then you may be interested in reading this notice a little closer. Understanding your Christian Hebrew heritage is a key that can unlock the treasures of God’s Word in an amazing way! When we speak of the Jewish/Hebraic roots of our Christian faith, we are talking about the biblical foundations of Christianity, which happen to have been from and of the Jews. For centuries, as Christians, we have not understood biblical Judaism and we have missed much understanding about the rich relationship God desires to have with us. Several members of our church recently attended a Christian conference where we learned so much about our Jewish Savior and the biblical roots of our faith that was cultivated in the soil of Israel and among the Jewish people. If you would like to learn more about this truth, we invite and encourage all men and women of our church who would be interested to join us for a meeting on October 24 at 7:00 PM in the church social hall to discuss plans for growing in our understanding of these truths. If you have questions about this meeting, please contact Shirley Giddens at 876-3833 or Lynda Hall at 876-2792, otherwise, we look forward to meeting with you on October 24th!
